I’m hearing word the Rossi is backing out of a scheduled debate in Vancouver on October 13, that was to be sponsored by the Columbian. I guess the editors of the Columbian just aren’t pro-business enough.
Rossi talks about keeping and attracting business in the state of Washington, but he supports the Bush/Republican policies that razed WaMu, whereas a local powerhouse just turned it into an east coast based company.
That’s not keeping business in Washington. That’s not change I can believe in.

I hate to say this, since I am now firmly in her camp.
This is fucking stupid. She may be a straight assed pragmatist who wants to get things done. OK. But, as Obama’s campaign shows, when your opponent is a soulless, ruthless, practitioner of Atwater-Rove campaigning, waiting until 30 dayas before the election and then trying to convey that sort of message in sound bites is very hard or impossible.
The Radical Repricans have great advantages . They have no morals so their ads can say whatever works. If you fight back at all, they accuse YOU of dirty politics.
At this point, her options .. short of a revelation that DR is gay and has been taking it in the mouth from a WAMU PR guy, are limited.
I am not a pro, buit FWIW here is what SJ campaign services would advise:
1. Paint Dino as a radical. Run those YouTube clips of him with Guzzo and then run as much Guzzo as possible.
2. Publish ads in the Perot style dealing with Rossi;s budget. Of course he will respond but being first is always better.
3. Palin/McCainize him. Sure CG MIGHT get votes from their “types” but it is unlikely that she can will unless they lose. A few thoughts:
… what does Dino think about WASTATE tax payers sending checks to Alaskans? If this is federal oil, how come we pay extra so they can get 1200?
… she is (at least) a global warming is goodnik, that does not sell well in wheatfarm land.
…WAMU, pin the WAMU debacle on Rossi before he pins it on her! Isn’t he a real estate financier?
4, All that is negative and will require a bath with holt water to remove the stink, so here is some holy water:
…Schools … I keep saying this but, CG should brag about what she has done as the foundation and then go on to a REA: plan to create the infrastructure that keeps Boeing, the Nvy, Msoft, etc here. That means coming our AGAINST any mor eUW campuses (something not very poular in Eastern Wa anyway) and FOR strengthening our state colleges AND building in Everett a WASTATE POLYTECHNICAL UNIVERSITY.
