I worked in a polling place for my first time yesterday. I was very impressed with the other pollworkers and the King County Elections system.
But I was impressed with our voters even more. People whose houses were flooding out because of the rain took the time to cast their ballots. People who were recovering from back surgery made sure their voices were heard. Made me glad all over again to be an American.

How times have changed! On the Eastside of Lake Washington, the 48th District that had never had a Democrat elected in the history of the state until 4 years ago, now has three. Senator Rodney Tom, Rep. Debby Eddy and Rep. Ross Hunter (who broke the R’s strangle-hold 4 years ago. And now also have the 45th District with 3 Democrats for the first time in history, Senator Eric Oemig, Rep. Larry Springer and Rep. Roger Goodman. Take that all you insular Seattleites!
