The deal, Puddy, under which the AIG bonus is paid was negotiated on BUSH’S watch. That Geithner was part of the negotiation means nothing, he had no authority. He was acting in an advisory role. The bailout bill and bonuses are two separate issues. The problem is that the bailout DID NOT ADDRESS the bonus issue, not that it expressly allowed them.
