“I’m tired of my son lying about his mother,” David Irons Sr. writes in a lengthy comment in which he refutes his son, supports his wife and corroborates much of the story we’ve already heard.
Irons Sr. is not only a self-made millionaire, he is a former Commander and Chief of Aviation for the U.S. Coast Guard — “a hero” (Jr.’s words) who personally flew hundreds of search and rescue missions… the kind of resume that normally earns admiration and respect in Republican circles. I have no reason to doubt his version of events, and so I am reposting it here.
This is David Irons, Sr. writing because I’m tired of my son lying about his mother. Junior admitted to me, within minutes of the assault, that he hit his mother and knocked her to the floor. When he later denied it, I suggested both Junior and his mother take polygraph tests. His mother took the test and proved the obvious, she was not influenced by a medical condition and Junior did hit her.
This is the second time I have challenged Junior to take a polygraph. The first was when he made a false police report about his nephew. His nephew took a polygraph and proved beyond any doubt that Junior was lying. But Junior refused to be tested then and I expect him to refuse again because he can ill afford to have the truth known.
Regarding Junior assaulting his mother, no one but he, our youngest daughter, my wife and I witnessed any specifics of the violent episode. We observed the torn up office and the telephone ripped from the wall while Junior remained at the office and his mother fled in terror. And Junior’s panic call to me to come to the office immediately.
Junior has changed his story about the assault incident several times. First he admitted he struck his mother and knocked her to the floor. Next he modified the story by saying his mother walked into his arm and fell down. Then he denied hitting her and said she had a hallucinatory diabetic “seizure” and fell down; it should be noted that diabetics do not suffer seizures as Junior describes. Now Junior is denying that the assault occurred, saying, “it just didn’t happen.”
But Junior’s abuses are displayed outside the family, too. He worked for us for almost 15 years and we learned after our business sold that Junior had been swearing and throwing tools at other employees. If we had known about it at the time, he would have been fired. When we asked the employees why we hadn’t been informed of his unacceptable conduct, the men said they were afraid to report him. Intimidation is a terrible hammer.
Now we learn from subsequent work sources that Junior hasn’t changed his spots. He is still abusive and his coworkers are still reluctant to report him. Abuses usually take place when and where no witnesses are available so it is hard for the abused to find relief.
As for Junior being endorsed by aunts, uncles and cousins; the people he references, with one exception, wouldn’t recognize him on the street and certainly don’t know him. He generated the family backing just like he invented the fabricated business experience and the phony education resume.
And when we refused to help Junior on a political venture that would cost his younger sister her job, he threatened that if we didn’t help him, we would never see his three children again. We didn’t believe he would do such an abusive thing to his children or to us, but he did. We haven’t been allowed to see his daughters for over five years.
Junior professes to be a family man but taking his children’s only grandparents away defies the image of a caring parent.

Irons Sr. has given us no reason to question his integrity, while his son’s inflated resumes are filled with documented lies. The only reason I can see to totally dismiss the father is that you don’t want to hear what he has to say about his son… whereas Jr. has earned our skepticism… at least.
Call it a he said / he said if you want, but I just think Sr. comes across as the more reliable “he.”
Actually, they come across as a really sad and screwed up family — from top to bottom.
The good news is that Goldy has now earned his Rove’s Little Rangers merit badge for campaign sleaze.
Goldy, you’ve attempted a good faith explanation of why Jr. Irons continued to receive family support for 5 years after this alleged incident, so with that said, Sr. Irons’ comment, to me, doesn’t help.

So, swearing and throwing things at employees is grounds for termination, but decking your mother is not?

In 1995 and 1996, David Irons Sr invested at least $500,000 in Brigadoon.Com and insisted that his son be appointed Chief Operating Officer of the company, in spite of the alleged assault on Janet C Irons — and in spite of the alleged managerial incompetence and alleged bad interpersonal skills of David Irons Jr.
In 1996, David Irons Jr (and his wife) supported his father in his unsuccessful primary campaign for the GOP nomination for state senate District 5 (which incidentally was won by Dino Rossi, who went on to unseat the Democrat incumbent that November).
As David Irons Sr admits in his posting, it was his son’s decision to run against Brian Derdowski in 1999 (who was also Di Irons’ employer) which led to the family civil war, not the alleged assault against Janet C Irons in 1994.
Mr Irons Sr, we are waiting to hear your response …
Irons is like George Bush in a number of ways.

Yep, character assassin Denise Passinetti is shacking up with top Ron Sims consultant Rollin Fatland. I verified this personally just an hour or so ago, and it looks like this may cost Mr. Fatland his opportunity to cast a vote for Ron Sims on Tuesday.
I first looked up PDC contribution reports. Ms. Passinetti’s recent contributions show her address as 318 1st Avenue, South, Apartment # 601, Seattle, Washington 98104.
Mr. Fatland’s contributions in the last two months showed at least three different addresses for himself:
216 1st Avenue, South, # 260, Seattle, Washington 98104
111 1st Avenue, South, # 601, Seattle, Washington 98104
4919 53rd Avenue, South, Seattle, Washington 98118
So then I decided to check voter registrations.
Ms. Passinetti is registered to vote at 318 1st Avenue, South, Apartment # 601, Seattle, Washington 98104.
Mr. Fatland is registered to vote at 328 1st Avenue, South, Apartment # 604, Seattle, Washington 98104.
This seemed close, but no cigar. So I decided to check out the validity of these addresses on the internet. There appeared to be a multi-story apartment building at 318 1st Avenue, South, but nothing on the even side of the 300 block of 1st Avenue, South higher than 322.
So I went down personally to look at the buildings on the 300 block of 1st Avenue South. At 318, there is a multi-story apartment building, which is labeled “Seattle Quilt Building” on the outside. 320 is Cuttysark, a business which sells marine antiques and artwork. 322 is Flury & Company, Ltd, which runs an art gallery called Jackson St Gallery. There is nothing more with higher numbers on the east even side of 300 1st Avenue South — which is the NE corner of 1st Avenue South and South Jackson Street.
The address of “328 1st Avenue, South, Apartment 604”, where Mr. Fatland claims to reside for voting purposes, is completely non-existent.
The “Seattle Quilt Building” at 318 is a security building, with a building directory and push-button intercom for access inside the outer front door. Apparently, there is no first floor at 318. The second and third floors house a number of businesses. The fourth, fifth, and sixth floors have a number of apartments: 401 to 406, 501 to 506, and 601 to 610 respectively.
The buttons marked 601 are for Fatland and Passinetti. The button marked 604 is for two entirely different last names.
I am going to file a challenge against Mr. Fatland tomorrow (which is the last day permitted) for being improperly registered at an incorrect and non-existent address. This challenge should be upheld by the canvassing board, since it is factually correct and supported by the evidence.
Unfortunately for Mr. Fatland and Mr. Sims, state law only allowed Mr. Fatland to correct his registration address through the third day before the election, which was Saturday, November 5, 2005. (Dean Logan opened the election office for special Saturday hours to allow challenged voters to do exactly that.)
So Mr. Fatland will now have to cast a challenged ballot when he goes to the polls on Tuesday (in the King County Administration Building polling place to boot!). It is now too late for him to correct his voter registration address, and his ballot should not end up getting counted.
Credit should go to both Goldy and Mr. Fatland. They both provided the inspiration for Goldy’s last minute (s)hit piece, and for my follow-up research into this matter. And if Mr. Fatland had not given an incorrect residence address (in a possible attempt to conceal his live-in relationship with Ms. Passinetti), there would be no basis to challenge his registration and take away his right to vote. And if Goldy had not come out with his (s)hit piece at the last minute, Mr. Fatland would have had time to correct his registration address.
LOL How many families does anyone know that challenges other family members to Polygraphs? This man (Iron’s Senior) does it regularly.

Where is there another candidate running for any office in Washington where the candidate’s own parents state that he attacked his mother.
Now the mom passed the polygraph test which supports her assault charge against him and his dad backs that up as well.
Isn’t there just the very significant probability that he did attack his mom and that he did “throw tools” at other employees.
Its really difficult to actually believe that Irons got as far as he did without getting found out.

The story in the MSM is about the KC GOP challenging legal voters to intimidate them. You’re acknowledging that you are denying someone the right to vote because of his sex life. You’re not claiming that he is double registered; you’re not claiming he doesn’t exist; you’re not claiming anything other than he didn’t want someone to know he was living with a woman. Is this really what you want to do?
If so, then do what you will, but at least ask yourself if this is how you think the right to vote should be treated, especially by someone who has in the past asked the voters to put him in a position of public trust. Do you really want the public to know that you will not only use such information to embarrass them, but also to deny them their right to vote for something so petty as political vengeance?

That’s right… what Richard is planning to do is what the KCGOP has tried to do, and that is essentially try to get an otherwise eligible voter disenfranchised on a technicality. Perhaps legally he may be able to do it. But I think it says a lot of about how much the R’s respect Democracy.
The point of requiring that people register at residential addresses is to prevent fraud, not to disenfranchise people on a gotcha. On Saturday, KCRE processed over 150 change of address requests from people challenged by Soleto… in many of these cases, the voter had simply checked the wrong box as to which was the mailing address and which was the street address. In other cases, voters were simply unaware that they couldn’t register at a PO Box. But in every single one of these cases, these people were otherwise registered to vote.
This is clearly what Republicans want… to suppress the vote. Look at all the calls at (u)SP and from trolls here and from GOP legislators to elimate ballot duplication and enhancement, making WA no longer a “voter intent” state. They argue that if the voter doesn’t fill in the ballot such that it is readable by the machine, he should lose his franchise, regardless of how obvious the voters intent might have been to the human eye. Why? Is there any evidence of fraud or misconduct during the duplication and enhancement process? (Rossi didn’t even raise the issue in court.) No… they simply want to suppress the vote.
Of course the reason why the want to suppress the vote is simple… the voters that are easiest to suppress are the youngest, the oldest, the poorest and the least educated… all demographics that lean Democratic. If the GOP reforms had been in place in 2004… if the rolls had been purged, if photo ID had been required, if tight signature matching standards had been used, and if duplication and enhancement hadn’t… Dino Rossi would be governor. (All other things being equal.)
And so unable to win elections in WA by the current rules, they want to change them so as to disenfranchise tens of thousands of otherwise eligible voters statewide.
Shame on them.

In addition, the King County GOP got caught red-handed in a lame 11th-hour attempt to suppress and intimidate voters in Democratic precincts, which doesn’t make Irons look good, either.

You might be right. It certainly is possible for 318 to be mistyped as 328 and for 601 to be mistyped as 604.
But I was thinking. At some point, Mr. Fatland moved to his current address. He completed a form with SOMETHING on it. King County mailed him SOMETHING. It didn’t get returned by the post office as undeliverable, since they would have flagged his registration and done something to correct it if it had.
So Mr. Fatland would have gotten a registration card with the improper address listed on it. I can tell from Sharkansky’s database that Mr. Fatland voted at 328 (or 320-even something) in November 2004, so he registered there sometime before November 2004.
King County Elections mailed out new registration cards to everyone this year. Same routine — Mr. Fatland obviously got the card with the wrong information on it, and did nothing about it.
Next, there is the precinct voter book — Mr. Fatland votes at the polls, not by absentee. He would have signed the book in November 2004, probably again in September 2005 (I assume he voted in this year’s primary), and possibly other elections. In each case, he would have been signing his name by the incorrect 328 # 604 address. And he did nothing about it.
So probably Dean Logan will have to dig out Mr. Fatland’s latest form, and see whether he put 318 # 601 on it, or something else.
It is just unfortunate that Goldy came up with his last minute (s)hit piece. State law allows a challenge to be made up until the day before the election, but only allows a voter to correct their address up until three days before the election. If Goldy had done this a few days earlier, Mr. Fatland would have had time to correct his voter registration and have his vote for Ron Sims counted.
Of course, a last minute (s)hit piece on someone isn’t fair either.

Originally, he included an earlier version of the polygraph report that had been faxed from the David Irons Sr family business at about 6 am that same morning. In any event, David W Irons Sr and Janet C Irons know how to properly communicate with Goldy and send him information that can be objectively verified. So sending something only by an alleged posting, and not by any objective means, seems rather suspicious to me.

You are are trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist, and your solution is to disenfranchise tens of thousands of voters.
The duplication process is completely transparent and documented, and unlike FL-2000, the standards in WA are thorough and consistent statewide. Somebody circles or puts a check or slash through the ovals instead of filling it in (some of the more common errors) it is perfectly clear what the voter’s intent is. There is nothing sacred about the scanning machines… the technology is intended to be subordinate to the voter, not the other way around.

As I undestand it, there are party observers, but the election staff determines “intent.” If they can’t, then it goes to the Canvassing Board. The Canvassing Board in King County consists of the director of Elections, an appointee from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and a member of the King County Council. That makes a 2-to-1 Dem-to-GOP ratio highly likely. Also, it means that the GOP *could* be frozen out in a Dem-saturated KingCo.
