That’s hard to explain, except in terms of Minnesota’s long cold winters, and cabin fever. (In defense of some 6th C.D. Minnesotans, however, it should be pointed out that Bachmann got only 46% of the vote in a 3-way race.) This woman is definitely a black eye for Minnesota, along with the Vikings.

Mexico’s oil wells are running dry, and crude will be above $100 again in a couple of years. Currently, Mexico is the second largest supplier of imported oil to the U.S.; within 5 years, their production will drop to the level of their domestic needs and they’ll stop exporting altogether. My oil stocks are going to do just fine over the 3-to-5 year time horizon.

However, this strain is more able to tranmit from human to human. It has a mortaily rate of about 150/4,000 right now, or almost 4%.
If it eventually infects 1 billion people worldwide – that could mean almost 40 million deaths. It also may end up being more severe in people with a heatlhy immune system (similar to the 1918 outbreak). People with a very strong inflammatory response may have the total lung destruction that leads to death.

3 I’ve been thinking about that claim regarding Specter, and I’ve decided I think it’s bunk. Look, the guy’s 79 years old, he’s had a long and respected political career, and he’s survived a battle with cancer which, thanks to government-provided care, didn’t bankrupt him. He’s got a fat pension (maybe more than one) coming his way, and he could easily retire and enjoy the rest of his years relaxing and enjoying himself. Despite that, it would appear that he feels he still has something to contribute, and whatever that is, it ain’t part of the neocons’ agenda. This is going to be interesting to watch.
It is truly humbling to think that in this great democracy someone like Michelle Bachmann has a hand in making our laws. Damn, she’s an embarrassment.

She completely misunderstands and misquotes history. She claims that the Hoot-Hawley act (it is the Smoot-Hawley act) was written and approved by Roosevelt and caused the “recession”.
This is so wrong on so many levels:
Smoot and Hawley were republicns.
The act was written during the Hoover adminsitration and signed by Hoover.
It was a depression and worse than the “recession” of the early 20’s.
She has absolutely no understanding of history, of facts or of logic.
