Since I spend an awful lot of time critiquing the press, I think it only fair to point out that the coverage thus far of the tragic murder of four Lakewood police officers, and the ensuing manhunt for the suspect has been pretty damn good. Both the Tacoma News Tribune and the Seattle Times have been on top of the story since shortly after it broke, doing what newspapers do best.
In fact, in this age of instantly updated websites, the newspapers have provided much better coverage than they ever could in the days of their mere print existence.
SeattleCrime.com also deserves a shout-out for its ongoing coverage, and particularly its on the ground reporting from the Leschi police action last night. Kudos all around.
Seattle Crime? spews:
Central District blog was a lot better than Seattle Crime last night and Seattle Crime’s been MIA all morning.

As did the local CentralDistrictNews site: http://centraldistrictnews.com/

don’t talk about the wars!
Mr. Cynical spews:
It took waaaaaaaaaaay to long to get the detailed description of the perpetrator out to the Public.
Q13 finally did the politically incorrect deed.
When did the media know the suspect was Black?
When did they report it?
Mr. Cynical spews:
Putting out every detail possible about a murder suspect who is on the loose is an absolute no-brainer for the media.
Did it happen here??
If not, why not?

I don’t know, Goldy. This is the type of stuff newspapers and news TV lives for. It’s the type of stuff which as raw emotions and breaking news, where people will want to hear the latest updates frequently, as well as background info on the investigation, the officers, and the suspect. It sells lots of newspapers and gets a lot of TV viewers.
In short, if they can’t handle this, they really can’t do anything at all.

A large black man has been reported headed for Afghanistan with 30,000 troops . Main stream Democrats/Death party are making a killing .

Huckabee commuted the sentence from 108 years down to about 48 years.
It was the Parole Board that made the decision to let him go.
Should Huckabee have used his power to reduce a prison sentence of a 17 year-old from 108 years down to 48 years??
Huckabee’s responsibility seems to end there.
Hopefully we will get to see the Parole Board files and tape of the Parole Board meeting where he was released.
rhp is correct…need to see the record at the time to draw meaningful conclusions.
Also need to focus on the Pierce County Judge and Prosecutor.
Seems like there was a real oversight and this sadly feel thru the cracks after Arkansas dropped the No-bail provision.
Was this preventable? Most Likely.
However, I’m doubtful any county’s have an airtight system in place to catch things like this. I’ll bet a lot of things are caught. And this has probably happened before…just without the tragic/sickening results.
Hopefully there will be a floodlight put on the facts so citizens can see what really happened AND what will be done to help prevent it from happening again.

It’ll be better than opening day of duck season with Dick Cheney . Taliban here , Taliban there , here a taliban everywhere a Taliban …
The perfect trifecta of improving the economy , bolstering the weapons corporations , and fulfilling every U.S. president dream of the last 40 years for another ” just war ” . Hooray for the Candidate of Hope . Does any leader in this Nation ever come up with a foreign policy that doesn’t put a Muslim in the crosshairs ?
Alki Postings spews:
#8 – True to a point…it wasn’t PERSONALLY Huckabee that set him free, but he WAS the guy that made it possible. Just shifting blame there. If Huckabee hadn’t commuted his sentence to begin with, he wouldn’t have even been ELIGIBLE for parole. If the politicians would have just left the sentence alone instead of jumping in to ‘help’ this wouldn’t have happened. Of course that was just one piece in this string of screw ups. Why is someone with this kind of record (or someone with 12 drunk driving convictions) is just let go with a “now don’t do it again!” slap on the wrist is amazing.
Dow and the Democrats LIED spews:
@9….muslims put themselves in the crosshairs….they have only themselves to blame.

@10…amen to that.

Yes indeed. This morning there was KIRO Dave Ross casting stones and aspersions at squirrel-poppin’ Huckabee, at Wayne LaPierre, and at Three Strikes.
But did he mention that the Black Panthers, back in the day and back in that part of the day when they were making Goldy-like liberals swoon by feeding breakfasts to tiny tots, were high on killing cops? (Huey said that cops were an occupying mercenary army pimping for white power.)
Or that NPR and Evergreen State College and Kop Killer Kommunity Kollege (Seattle Central) pushed Mumia so far up on a pedestal that he got a nosebleed and had to cancel a conference call with his portfolio advisers?
Or that Roger Fucking Maggot will tell us the killer’s a Republican who’s into nullification (like John C. Calhoun and the nullifiers on southern Democrat juries) or like the Republicans who hanged the census worker? (Stephanie Miller said teabaggers did it. Roger probably agrees.)
Did lefty little Mercer Island elitist Dave Ross mention any of that?
Didn’t think so.
