Carl, Shaun, Jon, Maria and me

One of the reasons I love Carl at Washington State Political Report so much (again… in a manly, heterosexual way) is that he has a great eye for pointing out great posts at great blogs I don’t read nearly often enough. Like this terrific piece from Shaun at Upper Left.

Shaun answers a question posed by Jon on Evergreen Politics in response to the League of Conservation Voters early endorsement of Sen. Maria Cantwell… a story I first broke here. (Man, this is getting self-referential.) Jon asked:

I’m curious what you think — is it hard for you to get over Maria’s war-mongering, too? Or am I just being a grump? Am I under-estimating LCV’s grassroots mobilization prowess?

To which Shaun replies, “yes, yes and yes.”

Shaun then goes on to tell a great story about how he and Maria first crossed paths, and why two decades later she’s a US senator, while he’s just a lowly blogger like me. Great story. Read the whole thing.

    I’ll still vote for an alternate in the primary, if they say it was wrong to have written the administration a blank check to go to war, and she doesn’t.

    I took a look at Shaun’s Blog….I can understand why I am likely the only one! Only kidding Shaun. Actually Shaun has an interesting & thoughtful writing style. A compliment from Mr. Cynical!!! Poor Shaun won’t be able to sleep for a month!
    The nicest thing I have ever said to Goldy is he isn’t as fucking stupid as he sounds & looks….or something like that.
    Closet gays like Goldy are generally seeking love & admiration of real men like me…..YUCK!

    Roger–
    Mark is a rich commodities trader.
    He was smart enough to buy unleaded gas the other day and short sell crude oil. Mark is actually quite brilliant. I mean how could we not have seen that with the oil refineries being down, there were fewer places to deliver crude….thus the price of crude goes down. At the same time, the supply of unleaded gas is down and demand actually up slightly forcing unleaded gas prices thru the roof!!!! Mark the RN is very, very smart.
    However, Mark the RN is also a very civic minded and charitable guy with his wealth. He may talk tough and crude….but he is really a puddy-tat. I mean how can you possibly criticize the founder of the new Adopt-a-Looter program!!!!
    Mark the RN is really Mark the self-made wealthy benevolent one!
