On the day before the most anticipated election in my lifetime, the DJIA – did nothing, recording -5.18 for the day. In light of swings of 700, even 900 points the weeks before, it’s kindof noteworthy that even the DJIA seems to be holding it’s breath.
My prediction that the Treasury Dept. would put the remainder of the bailout funds directly into the market today to create a temporary boom were wrong, apparantly. Maybe they’ve already written off McCain?
Given the right-wing rumor-mongering about capital fleeing the country if Obama is elected, it will be interesting to see what happens over the next week or so. Of course, with the Bush administration still in charge for the next ten weeks or so, there’s lots of other reasons for the economy to go further in the tank between now and election day, other than fears over an Obama economics plan.
# 4: Thanks for that primer on how Rove and his minions use rumor-mongering, hate, and demonization to try to hinder the opposition, even after they’ve lost. It’s really quite enlightening, given the lack of any pretense at logic, fact, or education involved.

Simply go to past threads, and look at the video of people going into McCain or Palin rallies. One guy’s carrying a monkey he named “Obama”. Others are shouting threats at Obama protesters across the street. Lots of other disgusting comments by them. Even the more thoughtful, calmer ones were repeating claims which have been repeatedly proven false, alleging that Obama was a Muslim, that he is a terrorist, that he personally plans to kill babies, etc.
