So the link you were trying for is HERE. (The link you start with stays at the top of the screen even after you’ve navigated around a bunch … but the “share your map” envelope icon at the lower left of the screen will give you a URL for the view on your screen at the time. At least, that’s what just worked for me.)

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of Southern white guys…

The National Republican Congressional Committee, the key cog in helping to finance GOP campaigns, has banked less than a third as much money as its Democratic counterpart and is ending the year with barely enough money to fully finance a single House race — no less the dozens that will be in play come 2010.

    Oh, did I forget something?

The fundraising disparity between the two committees is striking: The DCCC outraised the NRCC this year by more than $18 million, according to FEC figures at the end of November. The NRCC has only $4.3 million left in its campaign account — with more than $2 million in debt — leaving it with just a pittance to fund the dozens of races it hopes to aggressively contest.

The DCCC, meanwhile, is sitting on a $15.3 million nest egg (with $2.6 million owed), steadily expanding its cash-on-hand advantage over Republicans throughout the year.

Puddy wonders if this is true why is YOUR president’s men covering this up?

Of course ylb arschloch will pooh-pooh it being in WND. Somehow truth and ylb arschloch are opposite poles on a magnet.

DaddyLove @ 8 & 9: I look at numbers like that the way a G2 officer looks at enemy logistics and force dispositions. If something is missing, that probably means it’s in hiding and it’s about to hit you from another direction.

Sure, the GOP is still in considerable dissaray. They lost the independent vote in 2008, and even their most ardent wingnut supporters don’t want to attach themselves to the GOP lable. And isn’t this the same national committee which claims that millions in missing contributions was “misappopriated” by a former head of the organization?

I’m expecting that the insurance companies will make big contributions shortly after the dust settles on the Health Care plan. Other corporations may be planning on donating directly to individual campaigns, or as third-party funding. The wingnuts are just giving their money to the Tea Party in the belief that it’s a spontanious taxpayer rebellion not affiliated with the GOP. But what they are actually doing is giving money to a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Republican Party.

Well, if that is so, why isn’t the party ending up with it?

The numbers @9 are pretty dire, even assuming large later contributions. One fact is that the post-2004 Democrats have built a formidable money-raising machine and the GOP is not yet anywhere near catching up. and the new news here is appraerntly that they do not possess resources on a scale sufficient for the task at hand. They’re in trouble, insurance companies or no.

And BTW, insurance companies would be taking an enormous gamble staking their companies on a slim chance of a Republican Congressional takeover at the risk of completely alienating the party in power. It is much more common and more likely for them to hedge their bets by contributing to the majority as well.
