MLK was for change, the Tea Party is for change, therefore if MLK were alive today he’d be a member of the Tea Party!

I was in a place where I had to listen to “the best of rush” over the weekend.
This was his take on the violent rhetoric of the right, about the second day after the shooting.
Paraphrase: When the Left stops advocating for civil rights, for equal rights for minorities and women and gay people, when the Left stops pointing out the problems with Capitalism and things that corporations are doing wrong, when the Left stops trying to protect the environment, and when the Left stops advocating for fair trade and unions and the middle class,
then the right will scale back it’s advocating of killing people on the left.
The 3/5 compromise also gave southerners the false impression that their opinions should carry more weight than their numbers would warrant.
The outcome of the Civil War should have forever disabused them of such notions, but, as the demeanor and behavior of politicians like Mitch McConnell demonstrate, they haven’t got it yet.

And that it was about anything, everything, except, of course, slavery.
How about the fact that the most prominent teabagger types are utterly incapable of describing a single government program they would fix to solve the budget crisis?

Very good article today in the Seattle Times that exposes the LIES that Boehner and the republicans are using in the health care debate. As new polls show that Americans are starting to better understand how the GOP has lied to them about health care, the GOP continues to lie even more and they lie even in the bill they introduced.
Boehner’s spokeperson even lied about the lies they are putting out on health care…Yup, Pelosi is looking a hell of a lot better than these idiots…
They are using a discredited report (NFIB) on job loss that was written before the health care bill was even passed – and the report (now repudiated by the people who wrote it)failed to account for the actual provisions in the law – and the best that Mr. Steele could come with is this:
Michael Steel, a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said: “The (NFIB) report analyzes the effect of an individual mandate. ObamaCare includes an individual mandate. We make that clear.”
They make it clear that they want to deliberately LIE. They make it clear that an actual “debate” is not what the republicans want – because they LIE. Just as Boehner claimed the 230 billion the health care bill would save was an “opinion” of the CBO – the non-partisan CBO doesn’t issue opinions – but Boehner is an out and out LIAR.

Tisk Tsk Tsk. Don’t you remember? We are supposed to tone down our rhetoric. That means that liberals must self censor and stop saying anything bad about conservatives.
and conservatives….will do nothing different since they are not the problem.
