Rep. Jay Inslee on Attorney General Rob McKenna’s “absurd” lawsuit against health care reform:
“If Ronald Reagan’s Solicitor General can figure out it’s absurd, why can’t Rob McKenna?”
Yeah, I suppose Marcelas Owens would kick McKenna’s ass, but it’s the debate between Inslee and McKenna that I’m really looking forward to.

Yes!!!
Mr. Cynical's Golden Diapers spews:
My wife says McKenna looks like a milquetoast. I guess she ought to know!

I can’t wait for the McKenna/Inslee contest. It’s going to be a great one. Inslee will be a fantastic candidate. (And a very good governor).
YLB spews:
And so it begins..
AllFactsSupportMyPositions spews:
So McKenna, how is your prosecutions of bank executives that defrauded home buyers going? Yeah, I thought so. Fraud is legal in Washington…
Troll spews:
If a Republican President signed a bill requiring all U.S. citizens to purchase a handgun, and the Washington State AG filed a lawsuit saying that was unconstitutional, would Goldy say his lawsuit was absurd?
What spews:
@6
The government did that once. It was when the “founding fathers” were still alive. Nobody had a problem.
Goldy spews:
Troll @6,
But the health care reform bill does not require all U.S. citizens to purchase health insurance. It merely imposes a tax on those who do not purchase insurance if they earn above a certain income threshold and don’t hail from a state that has qualified for an exemption from the mandate by creating their own state basic health care system.
So it’s not really an apt comparison.
What I would argue though, is that if the health insurance mandate is unconstitutional, then so is the home mortgage interest deduction, as it imposes a huge tax burden on those who do not take out large mortgages to purchase houses.
Michael spews:
@8
Perfect.
TT spews:
Is it certain Gregoire won’t run for a third term?
countrygirl spews:
Does a squirtgun count?
GBS spews:
Conservatives are sooooooo stupid.
The provision to require everyone purchase (i.e. pay a tax) health care insurance is a REPUBLICAN idea!!!
The current GOP front runner for 2012, Mitt Romney, implemented this requirement for the citizen of MA when he, as Governor of MA, instituted health care coverage for all.
You’ll have a great time trying to defend the parts of the bill you ass holes claim to be un-American that ARE your ideas.
Repeal and Replace! Looks like the GOP is now in favor of Big Government take over of 1/6th of our economy otherwise there’d be no “REPLACE.”
Flippity floppity. I can hear the Republicans now; “I was for making everyone buy health insurance before I was against it and after we Repeal and Replace it I’ll be for it again.”
Unless of course the political breeze changes and Fox News/RNC tells them to be against it again.
Dumb shits. As if moderates and independents are actually going to support Teabagger ideals en masse. As if the crucial swing voters are really going to be swayed by the ideals of “No” “Hell NO you can’t'” and obstructionism.
Sarah Palin is GREAT at bringing in the Teabaggers and middle-aged white men who have a dirty librarian fetish, but her net negative numbers have already proven to be a disaster for the GOP on the national level.
There will be NO Repeal and there will be NO replacing health care reform. By election or by litigation.
The pursuit of this policy will prove once and for all that Reaganism is DEAD.
There will be less political in state houses, govenorships, and federal offices held by GOP after the fall elections than there is today.
Can’t wait for the few intellectuals in the GOP to start shitting on the *winking librarian* come Novenber 3rd, 2010.
sarge spews:
@10: All but.
sarah68 spews:
I can’t imagine Gregoire wanting to go through this budget misery for another 4 years, because it’s not going to get any better for the foreseeable future. We’ll only have more people depending on some sort of aid (including the burgeoning population of old people) and we’re probably not going to reform Washington’s revenue system for the foreseeable future either.
But if Inslee’s up for it, I think he’d be great. I’m sure he knows that McKenna’s doing this only for political gain and he’s certainly intellectual and verbally adept enough to put that across. Governor, then run for President would be my wish.

sarah68 @14:
That’s Rob McKenna’s wish too. Which is why he must be stopped ASAP. Thankfully, he’s doing his best to do that to himself.
(yes, I know you were referring to Jay, not Rob)
