So here’s a hypothetical… if the media came across a couple of sworn depositions from former employees of a tribal casino, alleging… oh… let’s say… loansharking, racketeering, profit skimming, prostitution, drugs, rape, illegal cigarette sales and other crimes… don’t you think the local media would be all over this scandal?
Damn right they would!
So why won’t they touch the allegations leveled at I-892’s biggest financial backer, the Great American Gaming Corporation?
Because they’re chicken shit.
I’ll give them a couple more days to prove that our local press cares enough about the First Amendment to exercise freedom of the press despite the risk of a frivolous Canadian libel suit.
And if they refuse to act, then it is time to force their hands.

Josef, that wasn’t muckraking. That was good old fashioned opposition research and media outreach. While I’ve only just posted the clip, I made sure it was available to the media weeks ago. It’s only now that it’s beginning to show up in news articles.
What is so frustrating about the Great Canadian allegations is that it is so clearly a hot story, and yet nobody will touch it, other than the piece in the P-I. This is a scandal, that is being ignored, because our corporate media doesn’t believe it is worth the risk of defending against a frivolous lawsuit.
I really agree it’s a scandal or they’re delaying so the Canuck invaders – which is who they are – invaders, can’t respond. Personally, I wish we could go back to the days of Watergate, Bernstein & Woodward and good old fashioned shoe-leather American journalism. You seem to be leading the way back…
