UPDATE:
Somebody should do a remake of that memorable “crying Indian” ad from the 70’s, on it should be Dino Rossi shedding a tear at the sight of industrial polluters being forced by DOE to clean up their mess.
That’s the number of electoral votes in states solid or leaning to Obama. Here’s another number for you guys:

That’s how many more we need.

He can’t be an Indian, he works for a living.
And to you Rodent at #1: I think you mixed up your pills again-off topic. I know it’s hard to acknowledge old age confusions/senior moments. There’s “homes” for you, so all is well.

Very straight and to the point ad. I think the name is great. Dino Rossi is a weasel.
You could fry a couple of eggs in the grease on Rossi’s hair. I’ll bet he’s got a checkered ‘sport-jacket’ somewhere with ‘Las Vegas Winner’ pockets all over it (Mario Puzo reference).

Who would have thought, after thousands of posts, that Mark was a racist?
Except everyone but Mark.
Hey Mark, can you give us an Irish joke? Include a reference to alcoholism in it.
Mark is turning out to be a great asset to the Obama and Gregoire campaigns.
Wink!

More of the same with Dino. For every question he somehow ties his mother to the issue as if he is sympathetic. His answer to the environmental question was his mother saying to leave the campground cleaner than when you found it. His answer to K-12 questions is his mother was a teacher. Then he goes on to suspend teacher COLAs as head senate budget writer. He could give a rip about education in this state which is the constitutional #1 duty of state government. Why would we want someone like that…his platform does not meet the job description.

mark is the reason that Native Americans will not vote for Rossi; to make sure that he will NOT represent his racist supporters in Olympia.

Off topic (kindof)…. the Republican Economic Miracle continues:
As of about 7:20 this morning, the DJIA is -347.34 points, at 9,978.04.
That’s right, the DJIA dropped below 10,000. I’m reasonably confident some bargain-hunters will step in and bring it back up a bit before closing today, but GEE WHIZ, Bush got EVERYTHING he asked for, and the market’s still taking a dive. I guess the “fundamentals” of the economy aren’t as sound as John McCain insisted a couple of weeks ago – you know, right before the market took another nose dive.
So as of 7:20 or so this morning, if you were an investor in a DJIA index fund as of January 20, 2000 (the date George W. Bush took office), you will have seen a loss of 5.76% of your money over eight years (an average annual loss of about 1.54%) – NOT adding in the losses due to inflation.
If this guy was your financial adviser, would you still stick with him? How about his firm – would you be satisfied if after eight years of losses, they simply changed your account rep., but then only when you threatened to go elsewhere?

rhp6033spews:
I started this whole project of keeping track of the DJIA’s economic performance under the Bush administration about three years ago, when some here trumpeted a temporary rise in the DJIA as “proof” of the “Republican Economic Miracle”, which supposedly justified giving our Social Securities savings to Wall Street to manage on our behalf, as well as a Permanant Republican Majority keeping control of our government and finances indefinately. If we are going to give a President blame or credit for the economy, as the Republicans on this board wanted to do at that time, I thought it important to make sure we were using consistent logic and methodology to compare the performances.

So what does this have to do with the state Gubenatorial race?
Well, Rossi’s prescription for the state economy is the same as George W. Bush’s prescription for the national economy in 2000. Budget cuts, turning over government duties to private business and charity upon the assumption that they can always do things better than the government can. De-regulation so builders can avoid those pesky environmental regulations. Don’t bother insurance companies with pesky inquiries about their financial health or whether or not they are cheating their customers.
I don’t think Gregoire’s ad campain has been particularly effective, I would do things differently. But she is right – there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between Rossi and Bush’s philosophy of government.

Oh, my God!!!! At 7:43, it’s down 504 points!

So, will the bargain-hunters step in and push it back up before closing, or will stop-loss orders and margin calls push it down even further?
So much for the McCain campaign plans to “change the subject”.

That was over 2 hours ago! It’s -556.49 points now! And dropping 5 points a minute! Looks like we may have a thousand-point day! Poof — another 2 trillion dollars gone!! If you think Republicans burn up money on wars, that’s nothing compared to how fast they burn it in their sacred “free markets”!

If Rossi is an Alaska Native he should have no trouble negotiating with Gov. Palin to get us a better price for oil! Right now Palin is charging us the same price of her oil as OPEC does! What good does buying Alaskan oil do, if it costs the same as Russian oil, Iranian oil, Nigerian oil, or Saudi oil?
