    Today’s School Shooting

    At least two children are hospitalized after a gunman opened fire at a New Mexico middle school this morning. The shooter is in custody.

    Roger Rabbit Commentary: I wonder if this shooter is one of the vigilantes the NRA wanted to station in our schools to guard our kids from nuts with guns?

    At least 4 children were hurt. A boy, 14, and a girl, 13, were airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. The shooter is in custody.

    Oh dear, now there’s pictures on day three of the bridge closure of Christie at an event with the official he hasn’t “had any contact with in a long time.”

    Reminds me of one of the reasons I hate Pete Carol. “I had no idea Reggie Bush was getting improper benefits while playing for me.” Uh…Pete about these pictures of you talking to Reggie through the window of an $80,000 Hummer Reggie’s driving…

    Update on today’s school shooting in Rosewell, New Mexico: Details remain sketchy but CBS News says the shooter was a student who allegedly had been bullied and the 14-year-old boy was his intended target. The incident occurred in the school gym. The victim was shot twice in the face, and a girl was hit in the arm. Both victims were airlifted to a hospital. When the shooter dropped the gun, he was apprehended by a teacher. The boy is in critical condition and the girl is in fair condition.

    A federal appeals court has struck down the FCC’s net neutrality rules, saying the agency didn’t have authority to enact the rules. The lawsuit was brought by Verizon.

    I’m glad I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid in that WVA river spill. Thanks to the RETHUG politicians the particular alcohol that spilled is not well documented.

    There is one toxicologist saying 1 ppm is way too high. OTOH the coal people are saying not to worry. Let’s see the coal people drink their Kool-Aid to prove it is safe.

    Not to let Fox totally off the hook, but the story at Rasmussen doesn’t provide a chart of the results, so we’re left with this odd wording:

    A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 54% of Likely New Jersey Voters believe it’s at least somewhat likely that Christie was aware that traffic lanes onto the George Washington Bridge were being closed as retaliation for the mayor of Fort Lee’s refusal to support the governor’s reelection. Thirty-six percent (36%) think it’s unlikely Christie was aware beforehand. This includes 30% who say it’s Very Likely he was aware and 17% who say it’s Not At All Likely.

    What it looks like is the the 30% figure is part of the 54% likely and the 17% figure is part of the 36% unlikely number. so the numbers probably break out like this:

    Very likely – 30%
    Somewhat likely – 24%
    Total likely = 54%
    ——————-
    Somewhat unlikely – 19%
    Not at all likely – 17%
    Total unlikely = 36%
    ——————-
    Don’t know – 10%

    Nobody wants an electric car. Especially one with an $80k price tag. While all the get rich quickers were dumping Tesla at the hint of a battery fire I was happy to take some of their holdings at a discount. Today was a good day. Model X in 2014, $40k model probably in 2016.

    But as we all know something…something…Fisker…something… something…Solyndra…something…something…green energy is a waste of taxes…something…something…global warming hoax…something…something…harumph.

    The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is considering in it’s capital plan, converting a couple lines to Diesel Multiple Unit operation. Not sure if they are going to take advantage of the new CAR rules and go with the lightweight European designs, because those are low floor, and some commuter rail stations in the Northeast are high-platform. One line that will be a natural, is the Fairmont line, which does not go too far beyond the Boston City Limits. More stops could be added, as multiple units, which are self-propelled, can accelerate and de-accelerate faster.

    In Europe, passenger diesel locomotives are being phased out for the most part, in favor of vehicles like these.
