Last week’s contest was won by wes.in.wa. It was Arleta, CA, just outside of LA.
This week’s location is somewhere in Washington state, good luck! And Happy St. Patty’s Day!

You weren't an Elector, nor was I. However, I was a whole lot closer to matriculating at the Electoral College than any of our readers -- had Maria Ehsan, the Elector chosen at the 7th Congressional District's Democratic caucus back in May, been unable to attend the Electoral College meeting in Olympia, yours truly (the Alternate Elector from WA-07) would have taken her place as one of Washington's 12 Electors.

Shorewood High School construction site in Shoreline?
It looks kind of hospital-y.

That’s it! Good win!
followup to RHP, re charging for links…
Collections of links, like the open thread posts here on horsesass.org and eshaton definitely drive traffic. (Sorry, I have not seen your site. Link?)
Compare that to news.google.com. I visit that page regularly. Google scrapes the title and adds a blurb summary.
I rarely clickthru either the HA style link posts or google news. But the difference is I get huge value from google news. I don’t have to click thru to gleen enough context to satisfy my curiosity. Very much like scanning Twitter.
So methinks that content publishers are mostly objecting to google’s harvesting their hard work and presenting it as their own. Not so much as a violation of fair use. But that they’re sucking up all the value (revenue).
I’m now inclined to agree.
I don’t know if charging for links is a good way for Google to share the spoils. But I haven’t thought or seen a better way yet.
