Speaking of Charlie coming through the back door, after I came home from Nam, I holed up in a rooming house with another vet who slept with a loaded gun. He said don’t make noise outside my door while I’m sleeping ‘cuz I’ll shoot through the door! That guy was a little weird. I wasn’t like that, well anyway, not after I’d been home a few months.
I used to have a great bumper sticker that said, “I’m a Vietnam vet, and I’m OK now,” and had the phone number for the vet counseling center. Never had a problem with tailgaters. They would read the bumper sticker and drop back several car lengths.
It’s been almost 40 years, and I’m pretty sure I’m OK now, as long as nobody tries anything.
