    Wow, Milwhcky, that was fast! Maybe the most impressive win so far at HA. I thought this one would take at least an hour.

    I simply looked on the map view for orange colored sections of US-50 with a railroad crossing. I picked a random spot in WV and worked my way west.

    There’s a website called “Tin Eye” that’s supposed to be able to reverse-trace a photo, although I can’t get it to work because I can’t figure out how to upload the photo.

    I’ve assumed all along that the people who win these contests are using software aids because I don’t see how anyone could identify these photos so quickly without technological gimmicks.

    No, Milwhcky’s just very good at this. If the technology exists to locate the picture that way, I don’t think anyone’s used it.

    The key was knowing that while U.S. 50 goes across the country, it’s only a divided highway for part of it (which is shown differently on maps). Then you just have to find a train track that crosses it. Even then, Milwhcky was damn fast.
