Dishonest Food Processors Cheat Customers With Sneaky Tricks
Speaking of tea parties, we should hold one in Seattle, and dump tunafish and popsicles into Puget Sound.
It’s bad enough that food processers are raising prices in big gulps. But what I really resent is the SNEAKY way they’re doing it. Do they think we don’t notice?
A few days ago, I posted about how Bumble Bee is selling 5 oz. of tunafish in the same size can they used to sell 6.5 oz. of tunafish in — and for the same price. That’s a 23% overnight price increase.
Today, I noticed that a bag of 18 popsicles is now a bag of 12 popsicles. For the same price, of course. This time they changed the packaging. From a clear cellophane bag to an opaque bag — so you can’t see there’s a lot fewer popsicles in the bag than there was last week. That’s a 50% overnight price increase.
I didn’t buy the popsicles, but I bought a bag of Tim’s Potato Chips, the 9 oz. size bag. Except now it’s an 8 oz. bag. That’s an 11% overnight price increase.
I’m not sure what the official food inflation statistic is, but that figure, whatever it is, is bullshit. Food prices aren’t going up by any 5% or 6% a year. They’re going up every fucking week in 20%, 40%, and 60% leaps. Mostly by shrinking the contents and changing the packaging to fool consumers.
Like I said, the sheer size of the price increases is bad enough, but the dishonesty the industry is employing to hide the increases is even worse.
Bumble Bee and Tim, you’ve lost my business. A cheated customer is an angry customer. In the future your products will have no place in my pantry. I’ll be happy to throw them into Puget Sound.
Let the righties bleed themselves dry. The people have already seen through the bullshit, and won’t uy it any more. We’ll still pick up the seats needed to shut the enemy out of any remaining power in the midterms.

I am pretty sure your list is totally INCORRECT. You have listed the most popular political party in the county in question, instead of the most popular political party in the small wealthy community itself.
For example, Davidson County, Tennessee (county seat is Nashville) as a whole voted for Barack Obama over John McCain by a margin of 158,423 to 102,915.
However, the small and very rich little city of Belle Meade, which is Precinct 23-4 in Davidson County, voted for John McCain over Barack Obama by the overwhelming margin of 1,389 to 510.
While Al Gore may have a nice mansion in Belle Meade, he is outvoted overwhelming by his predominately Republican neighbors.

I saw the problem with Puddy’s post right away, even though I didn’t recognize the names of the towns. That was the first clue – no cities, just suburbs. That’s like saying Medina is a Democratic community because it’s in King County.
But what difference does it make? Democrats will often vote to tax themselves when it is appropriate, regardless of what income class they are in. Some of the biggest proponants against inherited wealth are two of the richest men in the country, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates Jr., as is Bill Gates Sr. They see nothing wrong with a stiff inheritance tax. So if Obama’s tax reforms will affect Democrats as well as Republicans, then what point does that make – other than it’s probably fairer than any “tax reform” advocated by the Republican Party in the past?
Of course, what Puddy’s post DOES show is that he’s able to take a list created by somebody else, not check the facts, and then argue that it supports a point which it doesn’t. That kind of mindless posting tends to have an affect on credibility, doesn’t it?
