What Michael says here. The Democratic Party needs to do a better job policing ourselves enabling rape culture. We fucked up big time in that instance. And it’s hardly a one -off.
This isn’t to say we’re as bad as or worse than the Republicans — they literally voted for a sexual assailant with a dozen known victims because he’s a sexual assailant. But we have to be a lot better.

So why aren’t the young democrats calling for the age for drinking to be 21 for hard liquor, 18 for wine, and 16 for beer? Perhaps we are coddling youth and not allowing them an opportunity to learn about alcohol. Europe has much less of an issue with rape and drinking than here. It would seem the young Democrats should speak up for the issues that concern their age group, and the drinking age certainly is one, as is the age of consent. I don’t see where young people should agree to status quo thrust on them by us all knowing and less than perfect adults.
A discussion on what is date rape and rape should be on going. There are women and men that go to bars to get drunk and intend to end the night naked and fucking.
There is a difference between a protection order and a prosecutor going after someone for rape. Different standards, and different consequences.
What do you mean by rape culture? The rape of the Sarbine Women now that is rape culture, and in many respects was the beginning of Rome. Of course those Romen men and matrons would have taken care of this jackass if he did anything with a daughter of Rome without consent and unwilling or unable to marry her. Of course if she wants to be a whore that is just fine.
What is really needed is the ability to talk about sex and fucking in both parties and in our society. That sex is a normal part of life rather than calling it dirty and evil. Creating circumstances where people lie about sex. Yes that boy or man raped me, when the reality is she does not to be in trouble with mom and dad for spreading her legs, and heaven forbid enjoy it.
This whole rape culture is just about controlling others. The Judge is just one judge on an appeals court and the ruling maybe overturned or if upheld ir may have unintended consequences. Still this is not the Judge telling a Prosecutor to do his job and go after this bastard, this is just providing cover to the Prosecutors office to not have to explain why they aren’t prosecuting this guy, which may boil down to we can’t get a conviction, and if we do this guy is going to have a real attorney, ect.

Here is the actual Division 1 published opinion. So at least for Division 1 this is the precedent. Since these two were in a dorm I doubt they are both in the same dorm so it’s unlikely the defendant is going to appeal to the Supreme court. Could happen though.
https://www.leagle.com/decision/inwaco20170103b41
At least I can vote for the Judge but these opinions are always a group effort, Judge Mann may have written the opinion but the other judges contributed. Another judge may have contributed the part Mr. MAnn is gushing over.
I don’t think one case should be why or why not I vote for a particular Appeals Judge. Maybe Judge Mann lives big business and corporations and oil companies, ect. Perhaps he hates wildlife and other rulings will reveal that hate. Perhaps he wil have to make a ruling on the case about removing the mountain goats from Olympic National park and if they can be released into Snohomish county or shot. Maybe his decision will turn my stomach, but even then perhaps I should not judge the judge on the basis of on or two decisions, of course voting for any judge is always a bit opaque and is at best a best guess.

So a substantial majority of the Republicans in Congress want to repeal the ACA because they do not believe people should be required to have health insurance. They also oppose a government role in health care. Many of those folks are now advocating for the government to provide assistance to help folks who had the option for flood insurance.
Make no mistake, I support a strong role for the government in disaster preparedness and recovery. I have been involved in disaster response. I just don’t understand why the difference with health care.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@22 Democrats see the poor as a budget item, not a revenue item. Republicans see them as a profit opportunity, not a cost center. Is there money to be made from selling the poor cars and houses financed by subprime loans? Yes! From treating their expensive illnesses by taxing the rich? Hell no! Can corporate tax cuts be paid for by taxing 401(k)s and IRAs? Heck yeah!
Does this help?

While we’re at it, we’ll let them have Oklahoma too.

@15 Well it was not appealed to the Supreme court of course it’s only the law here in District 1. And the status back at the trial court is awaiting action. Nothing has happened. I’m not sure exactly what the trial court is going to do with this two and more than a half years later. Just go alone with the Appeals court direction even though circumstances are now different, and any original order could have run. The trial court could find no action is needed now, and the plaintiff could elect to drop the case, or proceed. The respondent could respond and state circumstances are different and have not spoken ect with the other side in all this time.
Meanwhile rabbits are getting it on. I really like how Jessica plays patti cake.
Mark AdamsYour into stocks so spews:
@22 I don’t why your throwing in flood insurance into the mix. After all a renter is not likely to have flood insurance. Nor is a business renting the building going to have flood insurance per say. At this point flood insurance is not much of an issue in the recovery effort. Right now it’s just providing some kind of safety net to people who have lost everything, have no current employment and may not have any for some time, access to food, and clean water, and how about some power. All are aid that these folks need and not a penny of that basic aid is from flood insurance. That is for when people rebuild. Which is a kick in the economy ect. I know some of you hate Texas and some folks affected by Sandy want some payback. So making a few Texans sweat I can see why. But comparing flood something government has historically been involved in, to health insurance because some may not have flood insurance is a bridge to far.
Maybe sections should be socialized for marvelous social projects and housing.

@24 Personally I think we should be inviting 10,000 to a 100,000 Texas pilgrims to Washington state.
Perhaps what the Texan meant to ask for was cash instead of blankets and beds and was to proud to say that. I’m sure Texas could use a few strong arms from Canada, but too many volunteers can be a burden and can get in the way of recovery. Perhaps the Texan was concerned the Canadian’s were going ot send beaver. Beaver may not be the best solution to Texas’s current crises, but he Canadians sure love the beaver.

I think the blogger has a giant blind side. People become Democrats by self identification. Maybe they volunteer for the party, maybe they send in a check, maybe they run for office (and you don’t have to be a party member to say hey I prefer Democrat or Horses Ass).
There are no cadres, pioneers, classes, ect to determine if one is worthy of being a party member. A person can just fill out the form and they are a member. And yes RR there probably are members of the KKK or skin heads here in Washington state who are registered Democrats. They may or may not be active in the party and may or may not be candidates. So when their secret identity comes out it will be shocking to the faithful who forget all one must do is self identify as a Democrat and one is a Democrat..or a Progressive Democrat.
So the party should represent main street and some folks on main street like a spanking. to kill, to steal, to get high, to rape. ect, There is nothing preventing these wonderful folks from being Demcocrats or Republicans. It’s a very Democratic and American system.
While some may be disturbed by a man taking advantage of a drunk woman, just remember some Democrats like Bodice rippers and they may just be having fun. It’s of course ok to maybe make sure everything is on the up and up. Or down low.
Or maybe some in the Democratic party want to be more like some other great parties in the world with right thinking people like the NAZI, the Communist party of the USSSR and the Peoples Party there in China. Of course it always helps to be the only political party in town, so you can afford to be a little selective. Start em young as Pioneers and they will be doing the parties work keeping nuclear subs under party control as their Political officer.

No shutdown – no leverage – no wall. No spending brinksmanship – no leverage – no wall. All eight D Senators have to do is parade a few soaking Harvey orphans in front of cameras and the money flows with few if any strings attached. Sorry racists, not a good time to worry about your tax holidays. Fuckface needs your money to feed hungry poors in Texas and appear semi-competent. Only the energy industry is going to get tax relief. And ICE is going to be too busy distributing Doctor Dumbfuck’s tax money to poor hillbillies to worry about which one of them was born on the wrong side of the line. And the vast army of “guest workers” needed to fill dumpsters with moldy sheetrock is already on the way, racists. When all you want is to sleep in a bed with walls around it you let go of the anti-immigrant bullshit really fast.

And the Kelly countdown timer has been started!
If House Hillbilly/Traitors give up on their “core principles” and just roll over on debt, the budget, and Harvey in the next 90 days then I’d say Kelly can survive this. It all comes down to Fuckface’s temperament and how he perceives his own success. But at this point most of that is going to depend upon legislation moving forward to the Fuckface desk. And Kelly has been a little too busy ferreting out Russian moles and unhinged racist lunatics from 1600 to worry about how things are going on the hill. Kelly’s fate is in the hands of The Suicide Caucus. And he’s never even met with any of them. I’d say his chances of making it to next year are no better than 50/50.
