I count nearly seventy different independent orgs doing new voter and turnout work in battleground states. They don’t match WhitePower’s spending. But with the number of unpaid and volunteer support workers they don’t have to. One group deploys more than three thousand lawyers specializing in civil rights, ballot access, and election law to battleground states for one week at a time. There are volunteer data miners, GIS experts, social media experts, and back end coding experts, most of whom serve from the comfort of their favorite local hang. I can tell you that four years ago this was talent and assistance that campaigns begged and pleaded for. And it’s a big untold part of the 2018 story.
It still isn’t enough. It will never be enough until we have driven WhitePower out of existence in American civic life. But it’s a damn good start. And the results have long coattails. These people keep getting better at what they do, more voters get reg’d and turnt, and it all becomes lifelong habit. But that’s what it will take when your opponents are feeding data to foreign spies to assist them with election fraud.

California Rep. Ted Lieu said Thursday he believes that “somebody got to” Robert Mueller to force the former special counsel to correct his testimony about his obstruction investigation of President Donald Trump.
Lieu, a Democrat, offered up the unfounded conspiracy theory in an interview on CNN when asked about an exchange he had Wednesday with Mueller during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
During their exchange, Mueller gave would-be bombshell testimony that the reason he did not indict Trump for obstructing the Russia probe was because of a Justice Department office of legal counsel opinion that prohibits indicting sitting presidents.
“The reason again that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of [Office of Legal Counsel] opinion stating that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?” Lieu asked Mueller in the hearing.
“That is correct,” Mueller said.
But before Democrats could celebrate too much, Mueller corrected his testimony when he appeared hours later before the House Intelligence Committee for a second round of testimony about his Russia investigation.
